Recently, we've seen an increased demand, especially by our smaller government clients, is the use of our Portfolio web portal as a public website. This is probably because of their need to not just publish information, but to interact with customers. At the same time, we've seen both an increase in comparison of our solutions to, as well as a number of migrations from, the popular blog engine, WordPress. So, we though we would provide a comparison.

We have talked with a number of smaller municipalities and special districts about 'Sunshine' compliance and their email. Alarmingly, there are many municipalities that have potentially major compliance issues either with their board members and/or their own internal usage. Vistalogix Corporation has begun testing of its Portfolio web-based portal solution on Windows Azure. Testing will involve optimization of Portfolio on Azure's fault-tolerant cloud architecture, as well as integration of SQL Azure and Azure Storage.

While we try not to be overly technical in what we publish here, knowledge of underlying development technologies like PHP and ASP.Net has become far more commonplace, making its way into the minds of executives and non-technical decision-makers, as well as IT guys. After working with web portal developer Vistalogix Corporation for six months to revamp not only the look of their public website, but also its purpose, the Volusia Council on Aging has finally unveiled it's new site. Not only has the new website generated revenue for them right out of the box, it has provided them with a new, more polished image and capabilities to better position themselves with funders and community partners.
